DEPTH is a 72-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter trial to determine whether doxycycline will help slow the progression of emphysema in people with HIV. The study will collect health-related information, patient-reported questionnaires, computed tomography scans of the chest, pulmonary function tests (spirometry and diffusing capacity), and blood, urine, saliva, and fecal specimens to better understand emphysema in people living with HIV. More detailed information is available at ClinicalTrials.gov
DEPTH is funded by the National Institutes of Health.
